Easy fireplace makeover with decoupage

ελληνικό κείμενο

Part of our living room may not have any curtains yet, but there is something else disturbing my beautiful eyes lately. The fireplace. Not that I liked it before but since the mantel will be one of the focal points of the Christmas decoration I had to do something with it. I have some future plans for this fireplace (like for every corner of this house) but I don't think I have to wait until they come true.

In the past it was really dreadfull, built with the house in 1970.

Then we did like this in order to paint it but we never did.

I like the bricks

but I hate the black marble

I also think that our fireplace has a problem with its proportions but I can't do anything about it right now.

So since I didn't want to spend anything for the makeover of my fireplace, I collected what I had available:

Some gray wall paint left from when we painted the living room, a vintage encyclopedia from the 60s,

plus some primer, the one we use for wood, and water based clear varnish, also for wood.

I applied one coat of primer on the mantel

and then two coats of the gray paint. I cut pages from the book and used the water based varnish as glue to cover entirely the back of each page. Then I pressed every page on the fireplace, trying to make it as flat as possible and remove any air underneath, with my hands.

I covered all the fireplace with the pages and then applied two coats of the same varnish. I also applied a coat on the mantel for protection.  Here 's the result:

which immediately inspired some new mantel decoration to look at until time for  Christmas decoration comes.

Now I have to do something with that screen.

Μπράβο! Πολύ ωραία η αλλαγή αν και στο λευκό του δεν μπορώ να πω πως δεν μου άρεσε επίσης πολύ.

Wow! that is a super creative idea for a fireplace redo! Great job on the decoupaging and cute mantel decor, too. I bet you're so happy to have it done, I know I am happy about mine-I'll be revealing it later this week. Thanks for your kind comments on my blog :)

Over and above the weight loss capabilities of the green coffee bean, its natural compounds also acts as an antioxidant to harmful oxygen damage. Excess blood sugars are regulated and glucose intake reduced therefore ensuring that the accumulated body fats do not become toxic and the fat metabolism mechanism and insulin hormone are not overworked. Other supplements used in fat burning are not as consistent as green coffee beans and do not eliminate the accumulation of toxins properly and in good time thereby unable to slow down the aging process as well as green coffee beans do.
