More new jewelry

I have already started listing in my shop a second group of jewelry. This one is consisting of little brass envelopes and postcards combined with post labels and scraps of manuscripts from vintage postcards. If you are a romantic girl the 'll suit you perfectly.

What is felting?

Felting is a relatively unknown craft in Greece. Lately it is more talked about, there are classes you can attend and many crafters are using felting for their creations. Reading here and there I had learned that felting is a technique to make a sturdy, resistant to water and air cloth that is not weaved, by using water, soap and pressure. Things became clearer when I came across this tutorial by fellow Etsian Art Mind about how to make a felt brooch. Check it out, it's very interesting.

Green design in Athens

I have said it again: don't forget to re-use. But I've never said you should do it without style. And if you think this is difficult Green Design Festival is here to give you inspiration. On an open contemporary playground on Syntagma Square, in the heart of Athens, industrial designers, fashion designers, architects present proposals and ideas on how to turn every day life greener without saying bye bye to design. During this festival a lot of other interesting things will take place in other spots of Athens.

If you want to fix the ambience of your living-room but can't afford to spend on hip designer's lighting fixtures here are two ideas. In the first picture you see plastic bottles with water.

These two last ideas are for me. One month ago I started collecting plastic lids without having any idea what I would do with them. I think my problem is solved now.

My new handmade jewelry

At last after some experimenting I am ready to launch my winter collection of my handmade jewelry. They will soon be for sale in my Etsy shop. One part of it consists of jewelry made of papier maché, acrylics and decoupaged scraps from vintage greek magazines. They are completed with copper chains and findings. Here's a preview:

A (completely) altered Ikea frame

In Greece it's still summer, but since everybody is back to work and school has already started the only thing we are left with is to remember our holidays and try to keep the feeling with relevant decor and crafting. So did Plyto who made a beautiful mirror using a plain Ikea frame and the beach treasures she 's been collecting during summer: drift woods, starfishes, shells. She used a hot glue gun to adhere the woods side by side on the frame like a puzzle and wherever the woods didn't match well, she added starfishes and shells on top of the gaps to cover them and to add interest to the composition. She added a piece of mirror to the frame exactly as she would add a photograph or art ...et voilà! The mirror now hangs proudly over her fireplace in her beach house.

Felted bears

I think these are of the cutest teddies I've ever seen. Tiny and soft. They 're made by onewtonj with the technique of needle felting.

Instant lamps

What a great idea! Buy for 14$ this set of 3 different lampshades made of parchment paper here, add them on glass wines with candles inside and you instantly have a beautiful dinner decoration.

Inspired skirts

Alison Willoughby is a British textile designer. She got known for her highly individual, hand constructed skirts. She handles a skirt as a work of art, as a canvas which she stencils, she screen prints, she cuts with scissors, she adds embroidery, knits and three dimensional objects. Here are some of her skirts, I think they are gorgeous.
